1. Application and Interface Test Management Services
(October 2008 – Present)
A large mining organisation is presently contracted with Outfit Consulting Services to provide test management services to support the integration of their suite of IT applications.
2. Development of Training Strategy for Safe System of Work
(March 2008 – Present)
Outfit is providing strategic advice to a major oil and gas exploration and production company in the development and delivery of a comprehensive safe system of work training program. This project is focused on the integration of a new IT system along with the introduction of revised, modified and new policies and procedures pertaining to the safe system of work. The training program has required close liaison with the project team, HSE management team, software developers and IT support team and is currently being rolled out to all 3000 operational personnel. Key achievements to date have included the clarification of user groups, the identification of key competencies and the development of eight training modules complete with assessment tools, activity outlines, personal workbooks, quick reference guides, PowerPoint presentations and facilitator session planning guides. Outfit is also providing the principal training delivery of the program.
3. Change Management Services for Oracle Implementation
(March 2008 – October 2008)
A global engineering and professional services organisation with more than 30,000 personnel contracted with Outfit to manage the changes associated with the implementation of the Oracle Global Business System. Key activities included to the identification and management of information for key stakeholder groups and the development and implementation of the global change management framework including gap analysis and impact assessment on current processes and roles. The Outfit resource had to coordinate the development of reusable templates, plan and deliver coordinated change and communications plans and was also responsible for the assessment and monitoring of the client’s business readiness for the changes.
4. Provision of Services to Support the Implementation of a New “Service Management System” Project
(July 2008 – October 2008)
An additional contract was undertaken in July 2008 with a focus on providing strategic input and advice to the review and development of the training process for the organisation’s “Service Management System” project, in the areas of training analysis, planning, design and resourcing. In replacing the existing OVSD (Open View Service Desk) with the HP application, Service Management 7, our client required guidance in the development and delivery of a tailored training program for its 500 intended users. The focal point of this project was on utilising effective educational methodology to set the training project up for success. Key achievements included scoping the training, aligning the training approaches to training needs, clarifying the core competencies of key users and developing a training roadmap responsive to the project constraints (time, budget and resources.)
5. Creation of HSE Educational Booklet
(July 2008 – October 2008)
Outfit was engaged by a major oil and gas exploration and production company to review and develop a standardised “Hazard and Incident Tools Booklet” in 2008. The requirements were to develop a standard, educational booklet that communicated the organisation’s common hazard and incident tools in a user-friendly and effective manner. The key achievement of this project was evident in the successful communication of the purpose, key messages and intended outcomes of using each tool.
6. Corporate HSEC Training Review
(March 2008 – August 2008)
The objective of this project was to ensure that the corporate HSEC training program was aligned to business goals and initiatives and to link the training opportunities to job-based, behavioural outcomes. The review allowed the client to communicate training expectations and requirements to training providers through standard course templates and guidelines, to establish a process to assess the effectiveness of training courses and delivery, and to repackage the existing training courses in line with modern training and learning and development practices.
7. Change Management Services for IT Transition Program
(March 2008 – July 2008)
The acquisition of an Australian utility necessitated the separation of applications, infrastructure and support services which were based in Melbourne. The IT Transition Program responsible for migrating the required applications, infrastructure and support services to Perth contracted with Outfit to provide a number of key change management services. In addition to the application of organisational change and communication management principles across the Program streams, the Outfit resource was involved in the development and distribution of written and verbal communications using a variety of media including a project blog site, posters and flyers, e-mail, presentations and road shows. The project also included the development and implementation of mechanisms to engage key stakeholders and manage their expectations around the IT Transition Program.
8. Review and Development of Corporate HSE Induction
(January 2008 – August 2008)
In early 2008, Outfit was commissioned to work with the management of a major oil and gas exploration and production company to assess and review the HSE Induction function. In this project, the Outfit resource was responsible for the review and implementation of a single, standardised Health & Safety and Environment Induction for our client. The induction training program focused upon the development of appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes towards hazard identification and risk management, including pre-work assessment, JHAs and permits. The revised Induction ensured consistent delivery of core HSE and corporate messages, single induction information through the recall of out-of-date induction documentation and replacement with the revised booklets and the establishment of a governance process for future revisions of induction content and documentation.
9. Integration and Program Management for Organisational Re-design
(October 2007 – January 2008)
A successful WA bank established a Program to facilitate a more cost-effective back-office, to service the significant growth in business and processing associated with the bank’s rapid national expansion targets. The bank contracted with Outfit resources to deliver project management services including the development and implementation of an Integration Strategy to monitor, test and validate integration between changes to IT systems, processes, policy and people, including the initiatives within the wider Retail Department change portfolio. The project included the development and implementation of a common Change and Communications Framework, the consolidation of Program reporting and governance; the provision of support, direction and resource succession management for the 30 Program staff (5 Project Managers and 25 resources) and finally an assessment of the Risk and Issue Management for the Program.
10. Business Process Re-Engineering Services for New Asset Management System
(August 2007 – September 2007)
A power and water utility launched a four year program of work to replace and improve the existing Asset Management culture, processes and IT systems. The utility contracted with Outfit’s resources to tailor and pilot an approach to business process analysis and improvement, focussed on the Drawing Management process. The key objective of the pilot was to develop an approach which could be repeated across all areas of the organisation, applicable to all Asset Management processes within the scope of the project and to deliver standardised quality outputs.
11. Project Management and BPR Services for State Government Reform
(May 2007 – August 2007)
A WA Department was undergoing considerable changes due to State and National reform agendas. An Outfit resource led the functional review of the Corporate Services functions within the Department, specifically around information, people, financial and asset management processes. Services provided included to review the existing process effectiveness across the state and identify opportunities for immediate and longer term improvement. The Outfit resource was required to develop appropriate organisational models to deliver Corporate Services functions into the future and appropriate selection criteria and also to create and present recommendations and strategies for the Department to implement the preferred model, and roll-in to the State Government’s bureau-style Shared Services model.
12. Project and Change Management Services for a New Document Management System
(February 2007 – July 2007)
Outfit was contracted by a national iron ore mining organisation to support the implementation of a Document Management System. Outfit resources were contracted to develop and manage the master implementation plan and provide Project Management support to project personnel. The project also involved monitoring the success of the change governance to support the change implementation effort and implement ongoing improvements. In addition to reviewing and improving the training strategy, approach and materials, the Outfit resource co-ordinated project resource activity and services to support the implementation master plan and closed-out the project and hand over to the internal operational support team.
